Both of these strollers cost more than mainstream options. Both justify the price through build quality, thoughtful features, and brand reputation. But they’re built for different families.
The Vista is an expandable system that grows from single to double to triple capacity with accessories. The MIXX Next is a premium single stroller for families who don’t need double stroller capability. Both work from birth through toddlerhood. The expandability question is what separates them.
UPPAbaby no longer sells the Vista V2, which this comparison originally covered. Its replacement is the Vista V3, so that’s the Vista compared below, with the V2’s figures kept alongside for anyone buying one second-hand. The two changes that matter here: the V3’s Bassinet and UPPAbaby’s Mesa and Aria infant seats attach without adapters, and the V3 doesn’t include a bassinet, which the V2 did.

UPPAbaby Vista V3: Expandability First
Start with a single stroller. Add a RumbleSeat, it’s a double. Add a PiggyBack board, and you can carry three kids.
That expandability is the reason people buy this stroller. Planning multiple children close in age? It eliminates the need for a separate double stroller purchase later.
The storage basket is rated to 30 pounds, which matters on all-day outings when you’re packing diapers, snacks, shopping bags, and toys. The canopy is extendable, water-repellent and UPF 50+.
Nuna MIXX Next: Single-Child Premium
No double stroller ambitions here. That lets Nuna focus entirely on single-child features: MagneTech Secure Snap magnetic buckle, five-position one-hand recline, compact self-standing fold.
Works from birth through 50 pounds. True-flat recline for newborns. Reversible seat for parent-facing or world-facing. UPF 50+ water-repellent canopy with ventilation panel.

Newborn Use
UPPAbaby Vista V3 from Birth
The Vista V3’s toddler seat is rated from 3 months to 50 pounds and 40 inches. From birth, UPPAbaby says you need the Bassinet or the Infant SnugSeat, and both are sold separately, so a newborn setup costs more than the stroller alone.
The alternative is an infant car seat. Most brands need adapters here, but UPPAbaby’s Mesa and Aria seats attach straight to the V3 frame without them, which is the main reason Vista owners tend to stay in-house for the car seat. The retired Vista V2 included its bassinet, rated from birth to 20 pounds, so if you’re comparing a second-hand V2 against a new V3, count the bassinet in the V2’s favour.
Nuna MIXX Next from Birth
The MIXX Next handles newborns through its true-flat recline position. No separate bassinet needed, though the seat isn’t a certified sleep surface like a dedicated bassinet.
It’s also compatible with the Nuna PIPA infant car seat for a travel system setup. The Nuna bassinet is sold separately. If you want a true bassinet, that’s an extra purchase.
Expandability
UPPAbaby Vista V3 Expandability
This is the Vista’s defining feature. A RumbleSeat turns it into a double, and a PiggyBack board lets a third child stand and ride, which UPPAbaby puts at up to three children.
The tradeoff: weight and size in double mode. Two seats make it heavier and harder to maneuver. Folding gets more involved too.
Nuna MIXX Next Limitations
Can’t convert to a double. Period. If you’ve got two kids who need stroller transport, you’ll need a separate double stroller or a ride-on board solution.
For families certain they’ll have one child, or those with larger age gaps, this doesn’t matter. The MIXX Next is optimized for single-child use with features that wouldn’t work in a double configuration anyway.
Fold and Storage
UPPAbaby Vista V3 Fold
UPPAbaby describes a one-step fold that works with or without the toddler seat attached, and the stroller stands on its own when folded, so it can park upright in a hallway or cupboard. Folded, it measures 16.3 x 25.7 x 33.8 inches (L x W x H) with the toddler seat on, or 11.3 x 25.7 x 32.3 inches with it removed. That’s short front to back but tall, so check the height of your trunk opening.
Nuna MIXX Next Fold
Compact fold-away axle, self-standing when folded. Dimensions: 27.5 x 23.6 x 19 inches. Its tallest measurement is well under the Vista’s folded height, which can matter in a low trunk.
Standing upright on its own, it takes up little floor space in a small apartment.

UPPAbaby Vista V3 Features
UPPAbaby lists FlexRide suspension, never-flat tyres and reflective trims on the wheels and basket. The 30-pound storage basket is one of the largest you’ll find.
UPPAbaby’s Bassinet and its Mesa and Aria infant car seats attach directly, with no adapters to buy or lose. The warranty is two years, extended to three if you register within three months of purchase.

Want a travel system?
Pair the Vista V3 with a Mesa V3 infant seat. Both are sold separately, and the Mesa clicks onto the V3 frame without adapters. The Vista V2 with Mesa bundle this section used to recommend is no longer sold.
Offered a second-hand Vista V2?
It’s the same basic design with the bassinet included, but check that every part is present, including the bassinet, and that the stroller hasn’t been recalled, using CPSC’s recall search. If it comes with a Mesa car seat, treat that separately: check the date of manufacture on its label, and don’t use a car seat whose crash history you don’t know, as the AAP advises.
What Else Changed: the Aria V2
UPPAbaby also released a second-generation Aria infant car seat alongside the V3. UPPAbaby lists it at 6 lbs (without canopy and insert) and calls it the lightest on the market, and its page lists SmartSecure installation, a load leg and an Anti-Rebound+ panel. Like the Mesa, it attaches to the Vista V3 without adapters.

Final Thoughts
Strollers sold in the US must meet the CPSC’s mandatory stroller standard (16 CFR 1227, which incorporates ASTM F833), covering stability, brakes and restraints.
The Vista V3 is for growing families who want expandability. The MIXX Next is for single-child families who want optimised features. That’s really the whole decision.
